Applications
Suitable for general commercial interiors including offices, schools, retail spaces, and corridors where cost-effective acoustic control is the primary requirement. The medium NRC reduces reverberation time and the CAC 36 rating limits sound transfer through the ceiling plenum. Used in New Zealand for over 20 years and available for ongoing maintenance supply.
Standards and compliance
Fire tested to ISO 5660.1-2015, Group 1-S classification. Sound absorption tested to ASTM C423. CAC tested to ASTM E1414-11A. Light reflectance tested to ASTM E1477-98. Meets Greenguard Emission Certificate Standard for Green Star rated projects. Complies with NZ Building Code clause B2 durability requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the 12 mm and 15 mm versions?
Both thicknesses achieve the same NRC of 0.55 to 0.60. The 12 mm tile uses a square edge profile and weighs 3.3 kg/m2, while the 15 mm tile uses a reveal edge profile and weighs 4.125 kg/m2. Both suit 600 mm or 1200 x 600 mm grid layouts.
Is Phonic NDF suitable for humid environments?
Yes. The 30-year product warranty covers conditions up to 40 degrees Celsius and 99% relative humidity without visible sag, provided the tile is installed with a T&R Interior Systems suspension system in accordance with NZS 1170.5.
Does this tile qualify for Green Star projects?
Yes. Phonic NDF meets the Greenguard Emission Certificate Standard and is manufactured with 76% recycled content, making it eligible for Green Star credit submissions.
