Applications
Installed in external and internal wall cavities in residential homes and light commercial buildings during framing, before internal lining is fixed. The R2.0HD and R2.5HD high-density variants are chosen where acoustic performance between rooms is also a priority. The stiffened construction holds the batt in place between studs at standard 430 mm and 580 mm spacings without sagging.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the standard R2.0 and the R2.0HD?
Both are 90 mm thick but the R2.0HD is manufactured at a higher density. The higher density improves sound absorption between rooms, making R2.0HD more suitable where acoustic separation is a priority in addition to thermal performance. The R2.0HD is 70 mm thick, suited to 70 mm stud framing.
At what stud spacing does Pink Batts Wall Insulation fit?
The batts are available in 430 mm and 580 mm widths, corresponding to standard Australian timber and steel stud spacings of 450 mm and 600 mm centres respectively. The stiffened construction allows a snug, compression fit that keeps the batt in place.
Should wall insulation be installed before or after fixing internal lining?
It should be installed before internal lining is fixed, as the batts need to be placed into the open stud cavity. Retrofit installation is not practical once plasterboard is in place.
