Phonic Acoustic Flush Box is a fire-rated and acoustically tested flush box from T&R Interior Systems, designed to replace standard electrical flush boxes in acoustic walls. It maintains the acoustic rating of the wall assembly by sealing air gaps around switches and power outlets that cause sound leakage.

Used wherever electrical outlets or switches penetrate acoustic walls without compromising the wall's rated sound reduction. Suitable for multi-tenanted buildings, hotels, and apartments requiring separation between residents; aged care facilities and hospitals requiring low disturbance between wards; private offices, boardrooms, and consultation rooms requiring speech confidentiality; and any rated wall separating noise sources from common areas.
Standards and compliance
Tested for acoustic performance to ISO 10140-2:2010 by Canterbury Acoustic Testing Services (Report 2022-227), confirming the overall system acoustic rating of the wall is maintained. Fire rated to AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 4072.1:2005 via the intumescent pad. No additional fire or acoustic products are required at installation.
Frequently asked questions
Can Phonic Acoustic Flush Boxes be installed back-to-back?
Yes. Back-to-back installation is permitted provided a minimum 92 mm stud is used. The boxes must not touch each other inside the wall cavity, as contact would create an acoustic bridge and reduce the wall's sound isolation performance.
Does the Phonic Acoustic Flush Box replace the standard flush box entirely?
Yes. It is a direct replacement for any standard flush box. Wiring is fed through circular punch-outs on all four sides. No additional fire or acoustic sealing products are required because the intumescent pad and outer flange provide both functions in a single unit.
