Thermotec Reinforced Aluminium Tapes
Thermotec Reinforced Aluminium Tapes (EZY TEAR) are aluminium foil tapes from Thermotec, constructed with a polyethylene mesh backing and an advanced pressure-sensitive adhesive on an easy-release liner. They are designed for sealing joints and seams on aluminium-faced pipe insulation, duct insulation, and HVAC aluminium-jacketed products to resist moisture and vapour transmission.

Applications
Used to seal longitudinal seams and butt joints on aluminium-foil-faced pipe insulation, flexible duct insulation, and rigid HVAC duct jacketing. The polyethylene mesh reinforcement prevents tearing during handling and provides dimensional stability across temperature cycling. The EZY TEAR designation reflects hand-tearability for fast site application without scissors.
Standards and compliance
Suitable for use in ductwork sealing systems in compliance with AS 4254-1-2012 (Ductwork for air handling systems in buildings, Part 1: Flexible duct) and AS 4254-2-2012 (Part 2: Rigid duct).

What is the difference between the 48 mm and 72 mm widths?
Both rolls are 50 m long and share the same construction. The 72 mm width provides broader coverage, suited to wider joint faces or applications requiring additional moisture bridging.
Can this tape be used on flexible duct as well as rigid duct?
Yes. The tape is compatible with both flexible and rigid HVAC duct systems and is used in accordance with AS 4254-1-2012 and AS 4254-2-2012.
