RedNet AM2
Description
RedNet AM2 is a compact Dante stereo monitoring unit that combines headphone and balanced line outputs for monitoring Dante network signals wherever needed. It features a ¼" TRS headphone jack on the front panel, along with a pair of balanced line outputs on the rear panel with male XLR connectors for speaker monitoring and other applications. RedNet AM2 can be powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or an external DC power supply (included). It is ideal for adding headphone outputs to a studio-based system, as well as for education, live sound, and broadcast applications.
Designed to drive a wide range of headphones, the headphone amplifier can handle high-impedance headphones (up to 600 ohms) at substantial levels, making it suitable for both stage and studio use. The XLR line-level outputs feature software-switchable 0 dBFS reference levels of +18 or +24 dBu.
RedNet AM2 includes a 2-channel Dante receiver based on Audinate’s "Ultimo" hardware and incorporates high-quality digital-to-analog conversion at standard sampling rates from 44.1 to 96 kHz for stereo network audio monitoring via line-level outputs (for use with speakers, for example) or headphones, both of which offer a dynamic range exceeding 118 dB. The unit can sync internally or to the Dante network master clock. It features two large volume control knobs for headphone and line output levels, with the latter having a mute button with an associated LED indicator.
Additional indicators show power, network, and signal presence. The signal indicator lights up red at 0 dBFS, orange at -6 dBFS, and green at -42 dBFS on any channel, while the network indicator illuminates when a valid network connection is detected on either port 1 or 2.
The two locking etherCON connectors are linked to an integrated Gigabit network switch, allowing network connectivity and daisy-chaining to additional network devices, such as a laptop running Dante Virtual Soundcard. RedNet AM2 is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or through the rear panel’s barrel connector with the included 12V DC power supply. The power LED glows green when powered via PoE and red when using the external power supply.
Housed in a rugged, road-ready aluminum extrusion, the compact unit features non-slip rubber feet for stable placement on a flat surface. Additionally, it can be securely mounted onto a microphone stand using the built-in 3/8" BSW threaded insert at the base.
Like all RedNet products, RedNet AM2 integrates seamlessly with any other Dante audio-over-IP network components and infrastructure. Pairing and routing can be managed using Dante Controller on Mac or PC.
