Bobbin – Diabolo, Type A
Bobbin Diabolo Type A is a rubber-metal anti-vibration mount from AMC Mecanocaucho with male threaded studs on both ends. The diabolo-shaped rubber body bonded between two metal end plates provides high elasticity in all directions perpendicular to the mount axis, making it effective for isolating vibration in light to medium machinery where forces act laterally to the mount.
Specifications

- Deflection in shear: 1.5 mm to 8 mm
- Number of sizes: 13 models (F.M through F.5 and F.6)
- Material: Natural rubber bonded to steel end plates
Applications
Designed for elastic suspension and vibration isolation of small to medium machinery including motor-pumps, motor-ventilators, dryers, sieves, compactors, washing machines, electrical motors, on-board control panels, measuring instruments, control cabinets, microphones, and fluorescent tube fixtures. The diabolo form provides greater transverse elasticity than cylindrical bobbins, accommodating relative movements of several millimetres from thermal expansion or structural deformation.
Frequently asked questions
What does the diabolo shape offer over a cylindrical bobbin?
The diabolo profile provides greater elasticity in all directions perpendicular to the mount axis compared to a cylindrical body. This makes it particularly effective when machinery vibrations are perpendicular to the mount axis.
How does Type A differ from Type B and Type C bobbins?
Type A has male threads on both ends (stud-stud). Type B has a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other (mixed). Type C has female threads on both ends. The fastening configuration is chosen to suit the fixing arrangement on the equipment being isolated.
What size range is available?
Thirteen sizes are available, ranging from the smallest F.M model (M-4 thread, 2.5 daN compression load) through to the largest F.6 model (M-16 thread, 400 daN compression load).
