Buffer – Cylindrical
The Buffer, Cylindrical is a rubber end-stop made by AMC Mecanocaucho that absorbs impact energy and eliminates the noise and rapid deterioration caused by rigid end stops. It is available in simple and progressive profiles, and can be used either as a stroke-end buffer or bolted to machinery as a flexible mount.

Applications
Used as stroke-end buffers for springs, dampers, cranes, and hoists, and to protect fragile materials during packing. Can also be bolted flat to machinery bases to function as flexible mounts for equipment that is not permanently fixed. The progressive conical variant is suited to high-energy impacts where gradual arrest of a moving part is required.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the simple and progressive variants?
The simple buffer has a flat rubber surface that responds immediately on contact. The progressive variant has a conical rubber profile that increases contact area as it compresses, providing a more gradual arrest and higher energy absorption for repeated or heavy impacts.
Can the cylindrical buffer be repositioned after installation?
Yes. Because it mounts via four base holes rather than being permanently fixed, the buffer can be unbolted and relocated to suit changing machinery layouts.
Can high-damping rubber be specified?
Yes. High-damping rubber formulations that prevent rebound are available on request for applications where energy must be irreversibly absorbed.
