Buffer, Progressive – Type C
Buffer, Progressive Type C is a conical rubber-metal anti-vibration buffer from AMC Mecanocaucho with a female mounting thread, designed to arrest moving parts with progressively increasing resistance. The conical rubber body makes contact on a graduated basis so that deflection and resistance increase together, absorbing considerable energy without generating instant high impact stress.
Specifications
- Thread type: Female (internal metric thread)
- Thread sizes available: M-6, M-8, M-12, M-16, M-24
- Diameter (A): 25 mm to 220 mm depending on model
- Body height (B): 19 mm to 137 mm depending on model
- Maximum load: 100 kg to 15,000 kg depending on model
- Energy absorption: 3 Nm to 2,500 Nm depending on model
- Dynamic deflection: 8 mm to 40 mm depending on model
- Material: Natural rubber compound bonded to steel hardware
- High-damping compound: Available on request
Applications
Used as end-stops for springs and dampers, end-of-stroke buffers for cranes and hoists, and supports for fragile materials or machinery in packaging applications. Particularly suited to applications where a gradual arrest of a moving part is required to prevent damage from sudden impact loads.
Frequently asked questions
How does the progressive buffer differ from a simple buffer?
The progressive buffer has a conical rubber form that makes contact on a graduated basis. As the moving part compresses the buffer, deflection and resistance both increase, providing a smooth deceleration rather than the immediate flat-face contact of a simple buffer.
What does the Type C designation mean?
Type C indicates the buffer has a female (internal) mounting thread, which accepts a bolt or stud from the mounting surface. This contrasts with Type D, which has a male (external) threaded stud.
Can a high-damping rubber version be ordered?
Yes. A high-damping rubber compound is available on request and reduces rebound movement, though it transmits slightly higher stresses to the supporting structure.
