DSD
DSD is an anti-vibration rubber-metal mount from AMC Mecanocaucho, distributed in Australia by Getzner Vibration Solutions. Its dome-shaped rubber section bonded between two flat metal plates provides comparable stiffness vertically and horizontally, making it effective against vibration from any direction in machinery suspension applications.
Specifications
- Hardness options: Soft (45 Shore A), Medium (60 Shore A), Hard (75 Shore A)
- Load range by size: DSD 40: 4-15 kg, DSD 60: 15-45 kg, DSD 80: 75-150 kg, DSD 100: 90-220 kg, DSD 150: 130-350 kg, DSD 200: 500-1,250 kg
- Top plate: Circular with tapped central boss or internal welded nut for machine attachment
- Base plate: Oval with two holes for fixation to support structure
- Rubber behaviour: Works in compression under static load; deflects to absorb shock energy
- Optional accessory: Metal caps for progressive stiffening under dynamic loads
Applications
Suited to low-to-medium dynamic amplitude applications including HVAC systems, ventilators, rotating pumps, torque or frequency converters, electric motors, and power units. The equal axial and radial stiffness makes DSD mounts particularly effective where both vertical and horizontal vibration components are present. Mounts can be placed without fixed attachment, and can be stacked in series for extremely low-frequency isolation.
Frequently asked questions
Does the DSD mount need to be bolted down?
No. The mount can be placed directly on the floor without attachment. Fixation via set screws, bolts, or studs is possible but not always required, allowing easy repositioning of the supported equipment.
What do the metal caps (bell washers) do?
Metal caps are an optional accessory fitted over the mount assembly. They produce progressive stiffening under dynamic load inputs, enhancing shock absorption where loads fluctuate significantly.
How do I choose between the Soft, Medium, and Hard compounds?
Compound selection is based on the static load per mount and the excitation frequency. The hardness is engraved on each metal part. Soft (45 Shore) suits lighter loads at lower frequencies; Hard (75 Shore) suits heavier loads or higher-frequency inputs.
