FDM
FDM is a three-layer acoustic lining composite from AMC Mecanocaucho, combining a beige perforated PVC facing, an M-1 class fire-resistant polyurethane foam absorber, and a 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer. The added mass layer significantly increases airborne sound insulation compared to foam-only products.
Specifications
- Composition: Beige perforated PVC facing, M-1 class fire-resistant polyurethane foam, and 5 kg/m2 heavy viscoelastic mass layer
- Available thicknesses: 15 mm, 25 mm
- Sheet dimensions: 1200 x 1000 mm
- Weight (FDM-15): 7.335 kg/m2
- Weight (FDM-25): 8.085 kg/m2
- Weighted sound reduction, FDM-15 (Rw): 15 dB
- Weighted sound reduction, FDM-25 (Rw): 13 dB
- Packaging (15 mm): 8 sheets per box
- Packaging (25 mm): 5 sheets per box
- Self-adhesive option: Available (FDM-15 A, FDM-25 A)
Applications
Lining the interior of soundproof cabins, enclosures, and industrial vehicles where both absorption and mass-loaded sound insulation are required. The viscoelastic mass layer dampens vibrations and adds isolation performance beyond foam alone.
Standards and compliance
Fire classification M-1 (French classification for fire-resistant materials). Verified against AMC Mecanocaucho product data.
Frequently asked questions
How does FDM differ from FD?
FDM includes a 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer bonded behind the foam, raising the panel weight to 7.335 kg/m2 (15 mm) compared to 1.335 kg/m2 for FD-15. This mass layer improves airborne sound insulation, with FDM-15 achieving 15 dB Rw versus 13 dB for FD-15.
Is a self-adhesive version available?
Yes. Both the 15 mm and 25 mm variants are available with a self-adhesive backing, designated FDM-15 A and FDM-25 A.
How many sheets are supplied per box?
The 15 mm variant is supplied 8 sheets per box; the 25 mm variant is supplied 5 sheets per box. Each sheet measures 1200 x 1000 mm.
