PAI
PAI is a thermal and acoustic insulation material from AMC Mecanocaucho, constructed from an aluminium facing bonded over a fibreglass support and an absorbing polyurethane foam core. It provides thermal insulation and airborne sound isolation in mobile and industrial applications, with M-1 class fire resistance and good resistance to hydrocarbon damage.

Applications
Thermal insulation and airborne noise isolation in vehicle engine compartments, cab interiors, construction machinery, and industrial equipment. Functions primarily as a sound isolator and thermal barrier rather than an acoustic absorber. Good resistance to hydrocarbon contamination makes it suitable for environments with fuel or oil exposure.

Is PAI suitable for wet or oily environments?
Yes. PAI offers good resistance to hydrocarbon damage, making it appropriate for use near fuel systems and machinery where oil or fuel contact is possible.
Does PAI absorb sound or isolate it?
PAI functions primarily as a sound isolator and thermal barrier. It provides moderate airborne sound reduction (Rw 17 to 19 dB depending on thickness) but is not designed for high-performance acoustic absorption.
What formats are available?
PAI is available in sheets (1200 x 1000 mm) or rolls (1500 mm wide), in thicknesses of 15 mm, 25 mm, and 40 mm, with or without a self-adhesive backing.
