PD30M
PD30M is a composite acoustic absorption and damping panel from AMC Mecanocaucho comprising a beige perforated PVC facing, absorbing polyurethane foam, and a 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer bonded within. It is specifically designed to line yacht engine rooms and sport craft interiors, combining sound absorption with added mass to reduce both airborne noise and structural vibration.
Specifications
- Composition: Beige perforated PVC facing, absorbing polyurethane foam, 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer
- Thickness: 30 mm
- Sheet format: 1200 x 1000 mm, 4 sheets per box
- Total weight: 6.9 kg/m2
- Sound reduction index (Rw): 27 dB
- Product code: 26046 (non-adhesive)
Applications
PD30M is used for lining engine rooms, mechanical spaces, and cabins in yachts and sport craft. The combination of absorbing foam and embedded viscoelastic mass provides both sound absorption, which reduces reverberation inside the space, and damping, which suppresses structure-borne vibration transmitted through hull and bulkhead panels.
Frequently asked questions
Why does PD30M include a viscoelastic mass layer?
The 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass increases the surface mass of the treated panel, which raises the sound reduction index to 27 dB Rw. The mass layer also converts vibrational energy into heat, providing damping in addition to absorption.
Is PD30M available in other thicknesses?
PD30M is a fixed 30 mm product. For different thickness requirements, the PDM series offers similar composite construction in 15 mm, 25 mm, and 40 mm options.
What size are the sheets?
Sheets measure 1200 x 1000 mm and are supplied 4 per box, allowing straightforward calculation of coverage area for engine room lining projects.
