VT
The VT is an acoustic spring hanger from AMC Mecanocaucho designed for suspending acoustic ceilings and vibration-generating machinery. Built around a piano-quality coil spring with an integrated rubber bush, it provides low natural frequency isolation while preventing acoustic bridging through the suspension structure.
Specifications
- Maximum permanent load range: 8 kg to 750 kg (14 models: VT 8 through VT 750)
- Spring type: piano-wire quality coil spring
- Threaded rod clearance: 35-degree angle envelope to accommodate ceiling irregularities
- Thread sizes: M8 or M10 (lighter models), M12, M14 (heavier models)
- Coating: zinc-plated anti-corrosive finish on all metallic parts
- Spring colour coding: black, blue, grey, beige, white, cream, and light grey to indicate load capacity
- Certifications: CE and UKCA (select models)
Applications
The VT hanger is used to suspend acoustic ceilings in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings where vibration from above-slab sources must be attenuated. It is also used to hang mechanical plant including HVAC equipment, pumps, pipe runs, and compressors where the hanger must carry significant load while providing high-frequency vibration isolation.
Frequently asked questions
What prevents the hanger from transmitting noise through the structure?
An integrated rubber bush sits between the metal components of the hanger. This bush interrupts the direct metal-to-metal contact that would otherwise create an acoustic bridge, ensuring vibration is attenuated rather than conducted into the ceiling.
How are the different load models identified on site?
Each spring is colour-coded to its rated load. The colour varies by capacity, from black for the lightest models through to green for the 750 kg variant, allowing installers to confirm the correct model without measuring.
Can the hanger accommodate a threaded rod that is not perfectly vertical?
Yes. The internal geometry allows the threaded rod to swing within a 35-degree angle envelope, which compensates for ceiling irregularities and minor misalignment without reducing isolation performance.
