VT TYPE 3
The VT Type 3 is a low natural frequency acoustic hanger from AMC Mecanocaucho engineered for suspended ceiling systems attached to reinforced I-section profiles. Offered in six spring stiffness variants to suit loads from 5 kg to 150 kg per point, it achieves natural frequencies below 5 Hz for high isolation of structure-borne noise on light concrete structures.
Specifications
- Load range: 5 kg to 150 kg per hanger point
- Natural frequency (at optimal load): below 5 Hz
- Spring stiffness variants: 6 (rated at 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150 kg)
- Typical installation spacing: every 1.5 linear metres (adjustable to load or frequency requirement)
- Profile compatibility: reinforced I-section structural profiles
- Coating: anti-corrosive treatment on all metal parts
Applications
The VT Type 3 is designed for suspended acoustic ceilings on light concrete structures where a high level of airborne and structure-borne noise isolation is required. It suits residential and commercial buildings where floor or slab mass is limited and a very low natural frequency suspension is needed to achieve the target acoustic separation.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a natural frequency below 5 Hz significant for acoustic ceilings?
A lower natural frequency means the suspension begins attenuating vibration at a lower forcing frequency. Below 5 Hz places the isolation onset well below the range of most building noise sources, providing effective attenuation across the audible spectrum.
How is the correct spring stiffness variant selected?
The six stiffness variants are rated at 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150 kg. The variant is chosen so that the actual load per hanger point at the planned spacing falls close to the rated load, which is where natural frequency is at its lowest.
Can installation spacing be varied from the typical 1.5 m?
Yes. Spacing is adjustable to tune the load per hanger point to the requirement. Tighter spacing reduces load per point; wider spacing increases it. Both the load and the target natural frequency determine the optimum spacing for a given installation.
