SONEX Curtain Barrier Backed (BB)
SONEX Curtain Barrier Backed (BB) is a composite acoustic curtain from Pinta Acoustics that both absorbs and blocks noise. It combines WILLTEC melamine foam quilted with a vinyl facing on one side, bonded to a reinforced 1 lb./sq. ft. noise barrier, providing simultaneous sound absorption and sound transmission loss in a single flexible panel.

What is the difference between the BB and a standard acoustic curtain?
The BB (Barrier Backed) adds a reinforced 1 lb./sq. ft. mass-loaded barrier bonded to the foam, so it both absorbs airborne sound and blocks sound transmission, achieving an STC of 27. A standard absorber-only curtain reduces reverberation but does not provide significant transmission loss.
Can the curtain be custom manufactured?
Yes. The BB is available with curtain hardware, hanging mechanisms, clear vinyl windows, grommets, hook-and-loop fasteners, doors, and sliding tracks for complete custom enclosure configurations.
Is the BB suitable for outdoor use?
The manufacturer states the BB is suitable for some outdoor applications, subject to specific project conditions.
