PS Black
PS Black is a hydrocarbon-resistant acoustic lining material from AMC Mecanocaucho, combining a black polyurethane film facing with an open-cell absorbing polyurethane foam backing. It is designed for interior lining of soundproof cabins and vehicles in environments where contact with water or hydrocarbon fluids is a risk.
Specifications
- Composition: Black PU film bonded to absorbing polyurethane foam
- Available thicknesses: 15 mm, 25 mm, 40 mm
- Sheet format: 1200 x 1000 mm (8 sheets per box at 15 mm; 5 sheets at 25 mm; 3 sheets at 40 mm)
- Roll format: 1500 mm wide, approximately 20 m long (15 mm and 25 mm); approximately 15 m long (40 mm)
- Surface mass: 0.463 kg/m2 (15 mm); 0.765 kg/m2 (25 mm); 1.218 kg/m2 (40 mm)
- Weighted sound reduction index (Rw): 12 dB (15 mm and 25 mm); 17 dB (40 mm)
- Self-adhesive option: Available for all thicknesses (A-suffix variants)
Applications
Interior lining of soundproof cabins, generator enclosures, and industrial or commercial vehicles in settings where the absorbing foam may be exposed to hydrocarbons or moisture. The PU film facing acts as a protective barrier while maintaining sound absorption performance.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a PU film facing used instead of leaving the foam exposed?
The black PU film creates a sealed surface that protects the underlying absorbing foam from oil, hydraulic fluid, and water. Without this barrier, hydrocarbon exposure degrades open-cell foam and reduces its acoustic performance over time.
What thickness should I choose for my application?
The 15 mm and 25 mm options both achieve 12 dB Rw and suit space-constrained cavities. The 40 mm option increases sound reduction to 17 dB where additional isolation is required and space permits.
Is PS Black available with a self-adhesive backing?
Yes. All three thicknesses are offered in self-adhesive variants, identified by an A suffix in the product code, to simplify installation on flat or curved surfaces.
