PT Fire Absorber
PT Fire Absorber is an M1 fire-rated polyurethane acoustic foam panel from AMC Mecanocaucho, distributed in Australia by Getzner Vibration Solutions. It combines M1 flame-retardant performance with strong acoustic absorption and high tear resistance, supplied in square sheet format with an optional self-adhesive backing.

- Testing standard: UNE-EN ISO 140-3 (acoustic isolation of construction materials)
Applications
PT Fire Absorber is suited to interior spaces where an M1 fire rating is required alongside acoustic absorption: plant rooms, commercial HVAC enclosures, vehicle cabin linings, industrial enclosures, and building interiors where fire regulations mandate flame-retardant materials. Also used for thermal insulation in fire-sensitive applications.
Standards and compliance
The product carries M1 flame-retardant classification. Acoustic performance is measured to UNE-EN ISO 140-3 (December 1995), which corresponds fully to ISO 140-3:1995.
Frequently asked questions
How does PT Fire Absorber differ from the standard PT foam?
PT Fire Absorber uses an M1 fire-rated polyurethane formulation and is supplied in 1000 x 1000 mm sheets rather than the larger 2000 x 1000 mm format of the standard PT. The M1 rating confirms compliance with a recognised flame-retardant classification; the standard PT is self-extinguishable only.
Does the 50 mm thickness offer better sound reduction than 30 mm?
For this product, the 30 mm variant achieves Rw 9 dB and the 50 mm variant achieves Rw 6 dB, as measured to UNE-EN ISO 140-3. The 30 mm version provides higher weighted sound reduction in this test configuration.
Is self-adhesive backing available?
Yes. Self-adhesive variants (models ending in A) are available for both the 30 mm and 50 mm thicknesses, allowing direct application to substrates without additional fixings.
