Phonic Direct Fix
Phonic Direct Fix is a high-density glasswool acoustic ceiling tile from T&R Interior Systems. It adheres directly to gypsum board, timber or metal battens, eliminating an exposed grid and delivering a smooth monolithic ceiling surface with strong noise reduction for commercial interiors.

Fire tested to ISO 5660 Part 1 (cone calorimeter), achieving Group 1-S classification. Sound absorption tested to AS/ISO 354:2006 and reported per ISO 11654 and ASTM C423. Attenuation tested to ASTM E1414-11A. Cleanroom Class 3 per ISO 14644.1:2015. Meets Greenguard Emission Certificate standard for Green Star rated projects. Complies with NZ Building Code clause B2 (durability, 5 years).
Frequently asked questions
Can Phonic Direct Fix be installed without a suspended grid?
Yes. The tile is designed to fix directly to gypsum board, timber battens, or metal battens, removing the need for an exposed grid system entirely.
Does adding an air gap improve acoustic performance?
Yes. At 20 mm with a 35 mm air gap, the NRC rises from 0.75 to 0.85 and the alphaW from 0.55 to 0.85.
What recycled content does the tile contain?
The glasswool body contains 80% pre-consumer recycled content, comprising 30% industrial waste and 70% civilian-used waste from reclamation depots.
