C-COAT PCZE – Solvent Zink Primer
C-COAT PCZE is a solvent-based zinc primer from C-Coat, designed to provide galvanic corrosion protection to steel and ferrous metal substrates before the application of topcoat or thermal insulating coating systems. The zinc content acts sacrificially, protecting the base metal from rust even where the coating film is damaged.
Specifications
- Product code: PCZE
- Type: Solvent-based zinc-rich primer
- Application methods: Airless spray, brush, roller
- Touch dry time: 60 minutes at 20 degrees C and humidity of 80% or below
- Temperature resistance: -40 degrees C to +100 degrees C after full cure
- Packaging: 5 L, 10 L, 20 L sealed plastic buckets
Applications
C-COAT PCZE is used as a corrosion-inhibiting primer on structural steel, fabricated metalwork, pipelines, tanks, and industrial plant equipment. It is suited to environments where ferrous substrates are exposed to moisture, industrial chemicals, or salt-laden air. PCZE is applied as the first coat in a C-Coat system where long-term anti-corrosion performance is a primary design requirement, before a thermal insulating or protective topcoat.
Frequently asked questions
How does a zinc primer protect against corrosion?
Zinc primers work galvanically. Zinc is less noble than steel, so when the coating is damaged or abraded, zinc particles corrode preferentially, protecting the underlying steel from rust formation.
What substrates is C-COAT PCZE designed for?
PCZE is formulated for steel and ferrous metal substrates where galvanic corrosion protection is required as part of a multi-coat protective system.
Is PCZE compatible with C-Coat thermal insulating topcoats?
Yes. PCZE is part of the C-Coat primer coatings range, designed to function as the base coat for C-Coat thermal insulating and protective topcoat systems.
