Applications
Closed Rafter beams suit large-scale commercial interiors where exposed ceiling structure is part of the architectural brief. The modular kit system allows progressive ceiling features, exposed-beam aesthetics, and superior sound absorption in spaces such as offices, lobbies, retail environments, and education facilities. Optional Coffer panels can be added to compatible Open Rafter, Closed Rafter, and Square designs to increase the NRC rating to 1.5.
Standards and compliance
ASTM E84: Class A. AS ISO 9705:2003: Group 1. EN 13501: B-s2-d0.
Frequently asked questions
How does Closed Rafter differ from Open Rafter?
Both share the same rafter-grid structure, but the Closed Rafter has a framed edge along its perimeter, giving a more enclosed, finished appearance. Open Rafter leaves the edges open for a more rustic look.
Can coffers be added to a Closed Rafter installation?
Yes. Zintra Coffer panels (sold separately, in sets of 8) are compatible with Closed Rafter installations and raise the NRC from 1.0 to 1.5. Coffers are not compatible with Rectangular or Parallel Beam designs.
How does the beam system install?
Kits ship flat-packed and require on-site assembly. Beams can be suspended via cable suspension or Unistrut. All beam clips needed for the chosen size are included in the kit.
