PS+SYLOMER® 2 AMC PRELOAD
PS+Sylomer 2 AMC Preload is a heavy-duty preloadable coil spring vibration isolator from AMC Mecanocaucho, combining omega-shaped steel spring mounts with a Sylomer elastomer pad. It serves the same function as the PS+Sylomer 1 range but covers higher load capacities, making it suited to large HVAC plant, cooling towers, and industrial machinery where isolators must be height-restricted during maintenance.
Specifications
- Load range: 50 to 750 kg per isolator (overall range); individual models extend to approximately 1500 kg
- Target frequency range: 600 to 1000 rpm disturbing frequency
- Metal construction: Omega-shaped steel parts enabling height-limiting preload
- Coating: Epoxy-coated for corrosion resistance in harsh environments
- High-frequency pad: Sylomer elastomer pad attenuates high frequencies that bypass coil springs
- Available models (with stiffness): 2 AMC 300 (103 N/mm), 2 AMC 400 (132 N/mm), 2 AMC 500 (166 N/mm), 2 AMC 700 (227 N/mm), 2 AMC 1000 (536 N/mm), 2 AMC 1500 (813 N/mm)
Applications
Suited to large stationary mechanical plant with low disturbing frequencies, including heavy generator sets, large cooling towers, chillers, and industrial pumps. The preload feature prevents equipment rise when fluid is removed during maintenance, protecting pipework and utility connections. The higher stiffness models in this range handle loads that exceed the capacity of the PS+Sylomer 1 series.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between PS+Sylomer 2 and PS+Sylomer 1?
PS+Sylomer 2 covers heavier loads. Its models range from 2 AMC 300 to 2 AMC 1500, with stiffness values from 103 N/mm to 813 N/mm, compared to the lighter 1 AMC series which tops out at 407 N/mm. Both share the same omega-frame preload mechanism and Sylomer pad design.
Why does a cooling tower need a preloadable spring isolator?
When a cooling tower is drained for maintenance, it can lose half to two-thirds of its operating weight. Standard high-deflection coil springs would push the tower significantly upward, stressing connected pipework. The preload mechanism locks the spring height and prevents this movement.
What environments are these isolators rated for?
The epoxy coating on all metal parts provides resistance to corrosive environments, making these isolators suitable for plant rooms, rooftop installations, and industrial facilities where moisture or chemical exposure is likely.
