Thermotec Expansion Joint Filler
Thermotec Expansion Joint Filler is a closed cell polyethylene foam board and roll product for filling construction movement joints. It accommodates thermal expansion and contraction in concrete and masonry structures, providing a compressible, moisture-resistant joint fill that accepts sealant at the surface.
Specifications
- Material: Closed cell polyethylene foam
- Widths available: 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm (other sizes available on request)
- Standard thickness: 10 mm
- Roll length: 25 m
- Format options: Standard roll; zip form with easy-tear strip for fast site application
Applications
Used in brick and blockwork isolation joints, hinge joints, deck slabs, retaining walls, bridges, basement structures, reservoirs, water channels, culverts, subways, and sewage treatment works. The product provides a compressible substrate for movement accommodation and can be used in both above-ground and below-ground wet environments. The zip form variant allows the outer strip to be removed cleanly to create the sealant recess without additional tooling.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the standard roll and the zip form?
The zip form has an easy-to-tear-off outer strip built in. Once the joint filler is placed and the concrete is poured, the strip is removed to create the sealant recess, saving a separate saw-cutting or routing step on site.
Is the filler suitable for wet or submerged conditions?
Yes. The closed cell polyethylene foam structure does not absorb moisture, making it suitable for water-retaining structures such as reservoirs, culverts, and water channels.
Can other widths and thicknesses be supplied?
Yes. Thermotec supplies a wide range of widths and thicknesses on request for project quantities, beyond the standard stocked sizes of 100 mm, 150 mm, and 200 mm wide by 10 mm thick.
