Bobbin – Diabolo, Type B
Bobbin Diabolo Type B is a rubber-metal anti-vibration mount from AMC Mecanocaucho with a male threaded stud on one end and a female threaded socket on the other. The mixed fastening configuration suits installations where one fixing face uses a bolt and the other uses a threaded hole. The diabolo-shaped natural rubber body provides high transverse elasticity and accommodates relative movement from thermal expansion and structural deformation.
Specifications
- Fastening: Male thread one end, female thread other end (mixed configuration)
- Thread sizes available: M-5 through M-16 depending on model

- Shear load range: 1.5 daN (F.000N) to 70 daN (F.6)
- Compression deflection range: 1.5 mm (F.000N) to 9.5 mm (F.6)
- Shear deflection range: 0.4 mm to 9.8 mm
- Body dimensions (sample): 12 x 12 mm (F.000N) to 95 x 76 mm (F.6)
- Material: Natural rubber bonded to steel end plates
Applications
Suitable for elastic suspension and vibration isolation of small to medium machinery including motor-pumps, motor-ventilators, dryers, sieves, compactors, washing machines, electrical motors, on-board control panels, measuring instruments, control cabinets, microphones, and fluorescent tube fixtures. The mixed thread configuration is particularly useful when one mounting face has a captive bolt and the opposing face has a tapped hole.
Frequently asked questions
When would I choose Type B over Type A or Type C?
Choose Type B when one end of the mounting arrangement has a protruding stud (male) and the other has a threaded hole (female). Type A suits stud-to-stud installations and Type C suits hole-to-hole installations.
How much relative movement can these mounts accommodate?
The rubber element accommodates relative movements of several millimetres, which allows for thermal expansion and minor chassis deformation without overloading the mount or the connected structure.
What is the compression load range across the full product range?
Type B mounts range from 4 daN compression load (F.000N, body 12 x 12 mm) up to 400 daN (F.6, body 95 x 76 mm), with corresponding deflections of 1.5 mm to 9.5 mm.
