Ceiling Tile Noise Barrier Composite
Ceiling Tile Noise Barrier Composite is a retrofit acoustic overlay from Pinta Acoustics that improves sound transmission loss through existing lay-in ceiling tiles. Built as a three-layer sandwich of PROSPEC ethyl vinyl acetate barrier and WILLTEC melamine foam, it lays directly on top of current ceiling tiles in a standard suspended grid without requiring tile removal or ceiling replacement.
Specifications
- Construction: Two outer layers of 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) WILLTEC melamine foam, one centre layer of 1/8 inch (3.17 mm) PROSPEC ethyl vinyl acetate barrier
- Standard panel sizes: 24 x 24 inches (609 x 609 mm) and 24 x 48 inches (609.6 x 1219 mm)
- PROSPEC barrier STC: 27
- Barrier material: PSF ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA)
- Foam material: WILLTEC melamine foam
Applications
Suited to offices, conference rooms, healthcare facilities, and education buildings where existing ceiling tiles provide insufficient acoustic separation and full ceiling replacement is not viable. The overlay improves inter-floor noise isolation and speech privacy with minimal disruption to the existing fit-out.
Frequently asked questions
Does installation require removing existing ceiling tiles?
No. Panels lay on top of existing ceiling tiles in a standard lay-in grid. No tile removal or structural modification is required.
What does an STC of 27 mean for the PROSPEC barrier layer?
STC 27 means the barrier layer adds measurable resistance to airborne noise travelling through the ceiling assembly, improving the transmission loss of the existing ceiling tiles.
