MD
MD is an anti-vibration mount from AMC Mecanocaucho manufactured in a high-damping rubber compound, purpose-built for engines and machinery that produce high-amplitude vibrations. It functions both as a vibration isolator and as an engine stabiliser, providing the extra damping needed for single, twin, and three-cylinder engines that standard rubber-metal mounts cannot adequately control.
Specifications
- Load capacity by type: Type A 130 kg, Type B 105 kg, Type C 70 kg, Type D 50 kg maximum
- Types available: A, B, C, D
- Rubber compound: High-damping rubber
- Weight: 238 g per mount
- Maximum tightening torque: 55 Nm
- Metal protection: Electrolytic coating
- Top cap: Metal cap shields rubber from diesel and oil
- Fail-safe: Interlocking metal component limits vertical movement under shock loads
- Installation requirement: Must be fitted between two parallel and flat surfaces
Applications
Designed for engines producing high-amplitude vibrations, particularly one, two, and three-cylinder engines. Used on motor pumps, generator sets, compressors, and ventilators, and also suited to applications involving frequent start/stop cycles or operation close to the system resonance frequency where high damping is critical.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a high-damping compound needed for small-cylinder engines?
Engines with uneven numbers of small-diameter cylinders generate high-amplitude vibrations that would cause a standard rubber mount to oscillate excessively. The high-damping compound limits these amplitudes so the equipment remains stable during run-up, resonance passage, and stop cycles.
What installation precaution is essential?
The mount must be installed between two parallel and perfectly flat surfaces. Tilted or twisted installation reduces damping effectiveness and can damage the rubber element.
How is the rubber protected from engine fluids?
A metal top cap shields the rubber from diesel and oil, and the metal components carry an electrolytic protective coating.
