Applications
NuWave MLV is installed within wall cavities, ceiling spaces, and floor assemblies to reduce airborne noise transfer. Typical applications include commercial office partitions, residential walls and floors, music studios, home theatres, and acoustically sensitive rooms. It can be cut to size on site using a standard box-cutting blade.
Standards and compliance
Rw ratings are determined in accordance with AS/NZS 1276.1:1999, which summarises sound transmission loss over the frequency range 100 Hz to 3150 Hz. Independent test reports are available on request.
Frequently asked questions
Which weight should I select for my project?
Heavier grades achieve higher Rw ratings: 2 kg/m2 provides Rw 24, 4 kg/m2 provides Rw 26, 6 kg/m2 provides Rw 29, and 8 kg/m2 provides Rw 30. Selection depends on the required acoustic performance of the assembly.
Can NuWave MLV be cut on site?
Yes. It can be cut to the required dimensions using a standard box-cutting blade, making it straightforward to install in irregular spaces or around penetrations.
What does the fabric backing do?
The fabric backing combined with the embossed face finish provides exceptional tear resistance and flexibility, improving durability during handling and installation.
