PDM
PDM is a composite acoustic absorption and damping panel from AMC Mecanocaucho comprising a beige perforated PVC facing, absorbing polyurethane foam, and a 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer. It is designed to line soundproof cabins and vehicle interiors, providing combined absorption and mass-based sound reduction alongside vibration damping.
Specifications
- Composition: Beige perforated PVC facing, absorbing polyurethane foam, 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer
- Available thicknesses: 15 mm, 25 mm, 40 mm
- Sheet format: 1200 x 1000 mm per sheet
- Sound reduction index (Rw): 12 dB (15 mm), up to 20 dB (40 mm)
- Self-adhesive variants: available (suffix -A)
Applications
PDM is used to line the interior of soundproof cabins, industrial machinery enclosures, and vehicle cabins where both absorption and damping are required. The embedded viscoelastic mass increases panel surface mass to improve sound reduction, while the foam layer absorbs residual airborne sound energy within the enclosure. It is suited to environments where noise and structural vibration must be controlled simultaneously.
Frequently asked questions
How does PDM differ from PD Black or PD White?
PDM incorporates a 5 kg/m2 viscoelastic mass layer bonded within the foam, which increases the sound reduction index to 12-20 dB Rw and adds vibration damping. PD Black and PD White consist of foam and PVC facing only, without the mass layer, so they primarily absorb airborne sound inside the enclosure.
What thicknesses does PDM come in?
PDM is available in 15 mm, 25 mm, and 40 mm. The 40 mm variant achieves the highest sound reduction index of up to 20 dB Rw, while the 15 mm version provides 12 dB Rw.
Is a self-adhesive version available?
Yes, self-adhesive variants are available for faster installation and are identified by an -A suffix in the product code.
