Phonic Clean is a glasswool acoustic hygiene ceiling tile from T&R Interior Systems, featuring a water-repellent, white painted monolithic pre-finished face. Frequently asked questions

Does the foil-backed version affect acoustic performance?
Yes. Adding the foil backing changes the acoustic profile: NRC reduces from 0.85 to 0.75 and alphaW remains at 0.75, but the CAC improves from 22 to 26, providing stronger sound attenuation through the ceiling plenum. The foil also enables use in positive-pressure environments.

Why is the warranty 10 years rather than 30 years?
Phonic Clean carries a 10-year product warranty when installed in accordance with NZS 1170.5. The hydrophobic treatment and specialist surface finish place it in a different warranty category than the standard Phonic mineral fibre and glasswool tiles, which carry a 30-year warranty.

Is this tile rated for cleanroom use?
Yes. Phonic Clean is tested to ISO Class 3 under ISO 14644-3:2015, the highest cleanroom classification available in the Phonic range, making it appropriate for sterile or controlled-environment applications.
