Applications
Installed in roof cavities of residential homes and commercial buildings to reduce thermal transfer through ceilings. Suitable for both new construction and retrofit applications where the ceiling cavity is accessible. Higher R-values are recommended for climates with more extreme summer and winter temperatures. The product should be kept dry and stored off the ground before installation.
Frequently asked questions
What R-value should I choose for ceiling insulation?
The appropriate R-value depends on climate zone and energy code requirements. The range extends from R2.5 to R7.0, with higher values providing greater thermal resistance. Consult the National Construction Code climate zone requirements for your location.
Can ceiling insulation get wet during storage or installation?
No. Wet glasswool loses its thermal performance because moisture fills the air pockets within the fibres. Store batts indoors or covered on a raised pallet and do not install wet product, as moisture in the roof cavity can also cause rot.
Is this product suitable for both new builds and retrofits?
Yes, provided the ceiling cavity is accessible. In new construction it is installed before internal lining is fixed; in retrofits it is laid across the top of existing ceiling sheets where cavity access allows.
