PROSPEC Barrier
PROSPEC Barrier is a loaded-vinyl noise barrier from Pinta Acoustics, available in reinforced (grey) and non-reinforced (black) forms, with an STC of 26 for each type. It is engineered to block sound transmission through walls and ceilings, and can be hung as a curtain, woven into wall cavities, or mounted over existing surfaces.

Applications
Suitable for virtually any space where airborne noise must not travel to adjacent areas. Common uses include: extending walls through plenums to the structural deck, partitioning between manufacturing cells, enclosing noisy machinery, lining wall cavities in staggered-stud construction, and creating removable noise-control curtains around equipment.

What is the difference between reinforced and non-reinforced PROSPEC Barrier?
The reinforced type has an interior polyester scrim mesh that allows it to be hung from grommets or support frames like a curtain; it is pebble-textured and grey. The non-reinforced type is a smooth black PVC sheet that can be attached to walls or threaded through staggered studs. Both are 1/8" thick with an STC of 26.
Can PROSPEC Barrier be used outdoors?
Both types are rated for indoor use only. The non-reinforced type has an operating temperature range of -20 to 180 deg F; the reinforced type handles -40 to 200 deg F, but neither is specified for weather-exposed exterior applications.
How is the reinforced barrier attached?
It can be stapled, nailed, screwed (using washers), glued, or grommeted, and hung from ceilings or support frames. Seams between sheets should be overlapped.
