PT Fire Resistant
PT Fire Resistant is an M1 fire-rated melamine honeycomb foam acoustic panel from AMC Mecanocaucho, distributed in Australia by Getzner Vibration Solutions. Its melamine base material provides inherently fire-resistant behaviour without chemical additives, combining strong acoustic absorption with thermal insulation and a clean decorative finish.
Specifications
- Composition: M1 fire-resistant melamine honeycomb foam
- Fire rating: M1 class fire resistance
- Thicknesses: 30 mm, 50 mm
- Sheet format: 1200 x 600 mm
- Sound reduction index (Rw) at 30 mm: 9 dB
- Sound reduction index (Rw) at 50 mm: 10 dB

Applications
PT Fire Resistant is used for acoustic absorption, thermal insulation, and decorative lining in interior environments with stringent fire requirements: commercial building fit-outs, public venues, transportation interiors, and any application where M1 fire-resistant behaviour must be demonstrated. The melamine structure suits exposed ceiling and wall installations.
Standards and compliance
PT Fire Resistant carries M1 class fire resistance, the highest flame-retardancy classification under European fire standards for building products.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between PT Fire Resistant and PT Fire Absorber?
PT Fire Resistant uses melamine honeycomb foam, which is inherently fire resistant at the M1 class level. PT Fire Absorber uses an M1-rated polyurethane foam. Both carry M1 classification, but the melamine construction in PT Fire Resistant provides the fire resistance through the base polymer itself rather than chemical treatment.
Does PT Fire Resistant improve with greater thickness?
Yes. The 50 mm variant achieves Rw 10 dB compared with Rw 9 dB for the 30 mm variant, measured by the manufacturer. Greater thickness also increases thermal insulation performance.
Can PT Fire Resistant be used in public and commercial spaces?
Yes. Its M1 fire rating makes it suitable for commercial interiors, public buildings, and transportation applications where fire safety regulations require demonstrated flame-retardant performance.
