Frequently asked questions
How does Pink Soundbreak differ from standard Pink Batts at R2.0?
Pink Soundbreak is a dedicated acoustic glasswool with higher density than the standard Pink Batts R2.0. The increased density provides greater sound attenuation, making it the preferred choice where noise reduction between rooms or from external sources is the primary design goal.
Why is 70 mm specified for an R2.0 batt?
The higher density of Pink Soundbreak allows it to achieve an R2.0 thermal rating at 70 mm thickness rather than the 90 mm required by a standard R2.0 glasswool batt. This makes it compatible with 70 to 75 mm stud wall cavities without modification.
Is Pink Soundbreak suitable for home theatre walls and ceilings?
Yes. Fletcher Insulation recommends acoustic glasswool batts in walls and ceilings of theatre rooms to reduce sound transfer to adjacent spaces. Higher R-values such as R2.7 are available in the Soundbreak range for more demanding theatre applications.
