SONEX Curtain Quilted Absorbers (QA)
SONEX Curtain Quilted Absorbers (QA) are flexible acoustic panels from Pinta Acoustics that combine WILLTEC melamine foam with durable, cleanable, abrasion-resistant vinyl facings. The panels absorb sound from machinery and industrial noise sources while withstanding humidity, dust, oils, and most chemicals, and are available as custom enclosures or in roll form.
Specifications
- Construction: Single or double layer of quilted WILLTEC acoustical foam
- WILLTEC foam density: 0.7 lb./cu. ft.
- Standard facing: Vinyl-coated fabric in grey, white, tan or black
- Optional facings: Hi-temp silicone-coated fabric, decorative cloth, or non-woven porous scrim
- Surface pattern: Diamond-quilted or straight-stitch
- Roll lengths: 7.62 m (25') or 15.24 m (50') with finished or unfinished edges
- NRC (QA-1, single layer, ASTM C423-90a): 0.50
- NRC (QA-2, double layer, ASTM C423-90a): 0.65
- Fire rating: Class 1 per ASTM E84; flame spread 25, smoke density 57
Applications
Lining welding booths with silicone-faced panels, adding absorption to existing walls and partitions, reducing general noise levels in manufacturing rooms, installing as ceiling baffles, improving communication in high-traffic corridors, reducing reverberation in large manufacturing environments, and some outdoor applications.
Standards and compliance
Class 1 fire-rated per ASTM E84 with a flame spread index of 25 and smoke density of 57. Sound absorption coefficients tested to ASTM C423-90a.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between QA-1 and QA-2?
QA-1 is a single-layer construction with an NRC of 0.50. QA-2 uses double-layer construction and achieves an NRC of 0.65, providing greater absorption at mid and low frequencies.
Can the panels be used in welding environments?
Yes. The optional hi-temp silicone-coated facing is specifically suited to welding booths and other high-temperature applications where the standard vinyl facing may not be adequate.
Are hanging hardware and custom sizes available?
Yes. Curtain hardware, hanging mechanisms, grommets, hook-and-loop fasteners, clear vinyl windows, doors, and sliding tracks are all available. The panels can also be custom manufactured as complete acoustical enclosures.
