Sylodyn® Bearing Strips
Sylodyn Bearing Strips are closed-cell polyurethane elastomer strips from Getzner Vibration Solutions for acoustic decoupling at structural joints in timber and masonry construction. They reduce flanking sound transmission at wall-to-floor and wall-to-wall connections while resisting moisture, oils, and greases common on construction sites.
Specifications
- Material: closed-cell PUR elastomer (polyurethane)
- Available grades: NB, NC, ND, NE, NF (colour-coded red, yellow, green, blue, violet)
- Static load range by grade: NB 0.075 N/mm2 / NC 0.15 N/mm2 / ND 0.35 N/mm2 / NE 0.75 N/mm2 / NF 1.5 N/mm2
- Bearing thicknesses: 6 mm and 12.5 mm
- Width: customised widths on request
- Temperature range: -30 degrees C to +70 degrees C
- Flammability: class E
- Self-adhesive option: available on request
Applications
Installed at structural joints in timber-frame and masonry construction to interrupt flanking sound paths. Typical locations include wall sole plates, wall-to-floor connections, and load-bearing joints where effective decoupling can remove the need for additional dry-lining layers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I select the correct Sylodyn grade?
Grade selection is based on the static compressive load at the joint. The five grades span 0.075 N/mm2 (NB) to 1.5 N/mm2 (NF), each colour-coded for site identification.
Are Sylodyn Bearing Strips suitable for wet construction environments?
Yes. The closed-cell polyurethane resists moisture, oils, and greases, maintaining performance through all stages of a typical construction project.
