Strategic partnership brings Austrian-engineered acoustic textiles together with New Zealand design, manufacturing and installation expertise.

SYDNEY / AUCKLAND — 30 October 2026 — AKA Acoustics has appointed Auckland-based architectural fabric specialist OneFrame as the exclusive New Zealand partner for Acunic, the premium acoustic textile collection developed by Austrian manufacturer Getzner Textil.

The partnership establishes a dedicated local presence for Acunic in New Zealand, combining European textile engineering with OneFrame's specialist capabilities in architectural fabric systems.

New Zealand architects, designers and specifiers will have access to the complete Acunic collection, supported by local sampling, technical advice, custom fabrication and installation. From architectural wall and ceiling treatments to freestanding acoustic elements, the partnership provides a coordinated approach from initial specification through to completed installation.

"For us, this was never about putting another fabric range on the shelf," said Daniel Natoli, Managing Director and Principal of AKA Acoustics. "Acunic is an architectural material, and it needs a partner who understands how to detail it, manufacture it and integrate it into a space. OneFrame has that capability, and we see considerable potential in what we can build together."

"Designers increasingly want acoustic performance without sacrificing the character of a space," said Jacques Swanepoel of OneFrame. "The appeal of Acunic is that the fabric itself becomes an architectural feature. We can now pair that material with our own systems and deliver a tailored solution locally."

Architectural freedom. Engineered performance.

Manufactured by Getzner Textil in Bludenz, Austria, Acunic comprises 13 acoustic textiles across five distinctive collections. From understated woven textures to bold, three-dimensional surfaces, the collection offers architects a versatile material palette that combines visual expression with measurable acoustic performance.

Each textile is woven from inherently flame-retardant Trevira CS polyester, with custom colour and printing options available. Selected fabrics achieve Class A sound absorption in their specified tested configurations, while all 13 fabrics have documented Australian fire Group Numbers of 1 or 2.

These classifications are recognised under New Zealand's Building Product Specifications for relevant wall and ceiling applications, subject to the applicable installation and building requirements.

To further support technical specification, AKA Acoustics has undertaken independent testing of selected Acunic acoustic systems at Canterbury Acoustic Testing Services in Christchurch. The testing includes Cubic Pico wall panels, suspended ceiling elements and freestanding acoustic towers, providing performance data for complete acoustic configurations.

Beyond the fabric

The partnership also creates opportunities for joint product development.

AKA Acoustics and OneFrame are collaborating on flat-pack acoustic framing solutions and modular acoustic towers, with a focus on adaptable, relocatable treatments for workplaces, educational facilities and other contemporary interiors.

These developments will combine Acunic's distinctive material properties with practical, locally supported systems for the New Zealand market.

Availability and specification

The Acunic collection is now available throughout New Zealand exclusively through OneFrame, with samples, pricing, specification assistance and project support available directly from its Auckland team.
